In normal production, the creping doctor blade will use the speed difference between the spool cylinder and the Yankee cylinder to complete creping and peel off the toilet paper attached to the surface of the drying cylinder. The doctor blade's material, loading angle, angle between the doctor blade and the dryer cylinder, and contact position all play a significant role.

What is Ceramic Alloy Doctor Blade?

Ceramic alloy doctor blades are made using thermal spray technology, with a ceramic coating applied to the cutting edge of a steel scraper. They offer high hardness, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and high temperature resistance. Traditional coating doctor blades use spring steel blades with an oxidized surface treatment. Ordinary blue steel doctor blades require a break-in period, wear quickly, and have a short lifespan, requiring frequent blade replacements and prone to blade marks, resulting in lower production efficiency. Compared to conventional steel creping doctor blades, ceramic creping doctor blades require no break-in period, offer high precision, and are more stable, significantly extending their service life. They effectively remove thick coatings, yellow lines, and other "paper defects," improving product quality, reducing downtime associated with blade changes, and significantly increasing production efficiency.

Selecting Ceramic Alloy Doctor Blade

When selecting a doctor blade, consider the following factors: the Yankee dryer cylinder's chemical coating and surface condition, the desired paper quality, and the doctor blade's performance. When the Yankee dryer cylinder surface is sprayed with metal materials, it is recommended to use a ceramic alloy doctor blade, which can significantly increase its service life and maintain the softness and quality of the paper.

What Should be Paid Attention to When Using Ceramic Alloy Doctor Blades?

(1) The doctor blade installation angle and the contact position of the dryer cylinder must be accurate. The angle between the ceramic alloy doctor blade and the dryer cylinder will affect the creping effect and the stability of the scraping. Too small or too large an angle may cause the doctor blade to jump and damage the paper.

(2) Be careful to avoid dry grinding. Although ceramic alloy doctor blades are wear-resistant, long-term dry grinding under high temperature and high pressure will still cause local overheating, causing damage to the doctor blade itself and the dryer cylinder. It is recommended to ensure sufficient lubrication during the initial operation.

(3) Regularly check the pressure and uniformity of the doctor blade holder. Excessive pressure will accelerate the wear of the doctor blade, and too little pressure will affect the cleaning effect, which will lead to paper defects.

(4) For dryer cylinders with special coatings, it is necessary to confirm their compatibility with ceramic alloy doctor blades to avoid knife marks or incomplete scraping due to material mismatch.
